Danish R&B duo Phlake have today released their brand new single ‘Bitter’ out now via Idris Elbas’s label, 7Wallace. Teaming up with South London wordsmith Che Lingo, the track comes in the wake of the duo’s latest singles ‘2min’ and ‘10 Feet’, released earlier this year. Listen to ‘Bitter’ here.
Armed with muted guitar riffs and a laid back drum beat, the track showcases the duo’s modern take on R&B. Smooth vocals combined with emotive lyrics from Che Lingo, depict feelings of bitterness after ending a relationship. Talking about the track, the duo explain, “The song is about ending a complicated friendship and about coming to terms with the fact that things aren’t the way they used to be.”
Che Lingo adds: “Phlake are a dope duo; being able to express your
feelings in relationships active or in hindsight is important. Grace is
necessary though; this song feels like a soundtrack to that
conversation.”
Phlake is made up of producer Jonathan Elkær and
singer Mads Bo Iversen. Hailing from Copenhagen, the duo are one of the
fastest rising acts to come out of Denmark in recent times, finding
themselves in the spotlight back in 2016 after the release of their
debut album, Slush Hours and since then they have gone on to achieve
three gold and platinum albums as well as several Danish Grammy’s. Over
the course of their career, Phlake have amassed over 180 million global
streams, performing sold-out headline shows in London, Copenhagen,
Berlin, Amsterdam and Oslo.
